Replace Nissan Maxima 5th generation cabin air filter

Replace Nissan Maxima 5th generation cabin air filter. Changing the cabin air filter on your car is an easy job and you can do it by yourself.

• Locate the cabin air filter

The cabin air filter on Nissan Maxima 2000-2003 is located under the glove compartment. The particular characteristic is that Nissan Maxima from the year 2000-2003 has two cabin air filters.

• Replace the cabin air filter

After you located the cabin air filter on Nissan Maxima you have to start the replacement procedure:

• Remove the two screws that are located on the bottom of the glove compartment.
• Open the glove compartment and then remove the other screws that hold the glove box secured to the car.
• Carefully pull down the glove compartment and release it from the rest of the vehicle. Hold it with your hand and then remove the airbag module and the glove box light connector. Be careful not to disconnect the yellow wires.
• Remove glove compartment.
• Unclip the filter cover from the housing.
• Pull up the filter cover and remove it, then remove the two used cabin air filter from the housing.
• Remove old Nissan Maxima 5th generation cabin air filter.
• Insert the new cabin air filte in the housing cover filters. To know how to do this read down.

Insert the first filter with the cross sign oriented to the driver side (to the left side of the car). Hold it in the upper side of the housing and then insert the other filter below the first one. Insert the cover of the filters by pulling it down and install the metal clip on the cover. 

• Hold the glove box with your hand and install the airbag module and the light connector.
• Carefully arrange the glove box in its place and secure it by reinstalling the screws: four on the top of the glove box and two on the bottom.

This is the procedure was made on a Nissan Maxima for the year 2000. The 4^th generation of Nissan Maxima (1995-1999) doesn’t have a cabin air filter.
