How to replace the fuel filter on a Volkswagen Passat B5. The fuel that is being used by your car has different kind of impurities. Every car manufacturer thinks about this problem and installs a fuel filter on every car. The purpose of this filter is to collect all the impurities and to protect your car’s engine.
In order to replace the fuel filter on a Volkswagen Passat you will need:
- small recipient
- small can or bottle because during the procedure a little fuel will be leaking.
For an easier replacement you will have to detach the entire kit and to disconnect the tubes that are attached to the filter.
The fuel filter on Volkswagen Passat B5 is located near the engine and the engine oil filter.
Pay attention not to damage the tubes during the replacement and hold in mind the exact position of each tube. You can use a small clipper to open the claps and then loosen the screw used to fix the filter.
Until now, we managed to free the entire kit and we can continue to loosen and replace the fuel filter. You can use an Allen key of 13 to take out the cap that keeps the fuel filter in place. On the red arrow you can see a screw. You will have to loosen it using a screwdriver.
Take out the old filter and insert the new one. Before mounting the new one is better to put some fuel in the new filter so you can start the engine without problems and eliminate the air inside. Even if you won’t do this is not a problem, you will have to work harder with the ignition (start the key 3-4 times without starting the engine).
Please remember to check the possibility of leakages after you finish the replacement of the fuel filter.
