How to replace the engine air filter on Nissan Sentra 2007 – 2012 and 2013-2015
The air filter is different from the cabin air filter. It is very important to change them both according to your vehicle owner’s manual. Air filter is also called engine air filter and by replacing it regularly you will increase the lifespan of your car’s engine.
The air filter is located under the hood. Depending on the year and the model, the location of the engine air filter can be slightly different. For some 2013 models you have to remove the plastic air tube that goes into the air filter. For other models the air filter box has some clips that must be removed, then take the filter out.
So, for models from 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, the procedure is the following:
- Open the hood and locate the engine air filter.
- Remove the 2 fasteners that hold the engine air filter housing.
- Lift the air filter housing straight up.
- Remove the old air filter.
- Insert the new air filter and attach again the housing.
- Close the fasteners and make sure that the engine air filter assembly is secured attached.
For 2013, 2014 and 2015 Nissan Sentra the procedure is slightly different:
- Open the hood and locate the engine air filter.
- Remove the plastic air tube that goes into the air filter by pulling out the clips.
- Remove the clips that hold the air filter housing.
- Remove the old air filter.
- Insert the new air filter and attach again the housing. The air filter housing has two slots that must match the ones attached to your vehicle’s body.
- Close the fasteners and make sure that the engine air filter assembly is secured attached.
- Install back the plastic air tube.
