DIY, change the air filter on Toyota Camry 1991-1996

Do it yourself, change the air filter on your Toyota Camry. This step by step tutorial will show you how to service the air filter on your car, if it’s the Camry produced between the years 1991 and 1996.

As you can see in the picture below, on this particular car model, the air filter is located in an air box, on the driver’s side of the engine compartment, behind the battery.

This filter can be serviced very simply, in a couple of minutes and no tools are required. You just have to remove the four metal clips around the lid of the air box, shown in the image below and you will gain access to the filter.

So, remove the clips by hand, lift the lid of the air box and the intake, just enough to get to the filter and to be able to pull it out (as you can see below). We recommend you to clean the bottom of the air box with a vacuum or a slightly wet rag, for dirt and afterwards you can install a replacement filter. Just insert it in place, like the old one and seal it with the lid, secured by those four metal clips.

Why is necessary to replace the air filter on you car? You should consider changing the air filter because your car will perform better in general, you will reduce emissions, have better gas mileage, an improved acceleration and you will increase the life of the engine. For each gallon of fuel burned, the engine uses up to 10,000 gallons of air, so that’s why it is easy to understand how vital a clean air filter is to the proper functioning of your car.
