Do it yourself, change the cabin air filter on your Chevy Cobalt. The process is similar for models made between the years 2005 and 2010. This particular replacement is quite simple and can be done following the steps we show you below. You should be able to service this filter in less than five minutes and you will not require tools.
You will locate the pollen filter on this car behind the glove box, on the passenger’s side. It is sealed in an air box, secured by three plastic tabs (as seen in the image below).
The replacement can start, obviously, after you open the front door, on the passenger’s side. You have to open the glove box first of all and then you have to push on the sides, as you can see in the picture below. This will lower the glove box and will give you access behind it, where the filter is located.
In order to service this filter, you will have to remove the three plastic tabs that secure the air box containing the filter (see next image). After you do it, you can pull out the old filter and install the replacement. The reinstall process is simple as well. You just have to insert the new filter into the air box with the airflow arrows pointing down, seal it with the three tabs and close the glove box.
Why is necessary to change the cabin air filter? The pollen filter cleans and purifies the air entering the cockpit. It stops impurities, bad smell, pollen or dust from entering the car and replacing it is a must, especially for those who suffer from allergies or other respiratory problems.
