DIY, change the air filter on Dodge Intrepid 1998-2004

This a step by step tutorial on how to change the engine air filter on your Dodge Intrepid. The replacement process is similar on Dodge Intrepid models produced between the years 1998 and 2004. This filter can be replaced in a couple of minutes, without any tools.

The air filter on this car is located on the left side of the engine compartment, on the passenger’s side. There is an air box covering the filter, whose lid can be removed very easily.

The replacement process starts after you open and secure the hood of the car. You have to go above the air box containing the air filter and push on the two tabs that secure its lid, as you can see in the picture below. You should be able to do it very easily by hand.

Pushing the two tabs and lifting the lid of the air box will give you access to the air filter (see next image), that can be pulled out now. We recommend you to clean the bottom of the box with a vacuum or a wet rag, in order to get rid of any dirt or debris. Then, you can install the new filter and seal it with the lid, secured into those two tabs. Make sure you insert the back of the air box first, where you have to align it in some holding teeth and then just snap it at front.

This is how you can service the air filter on your Dodge Intrepid. By doing that properly your car’s engine will perform better and you will expand its lifetime. That’s why, replacing this filter regularly is so important for your car.
