Before you start to change Honda Accord engine oil and engine oil filter you need to have prepared filter wrench, drip pan, gloves, jack and jack stands, safety glasses, wheel chocks, clean rags, funnel, sealabel container, grease gun. If you have all of this you can start to replace your Honda Accord engine oil and engine oil filter.

How to change your Honda Accord engine oil and oil filter from year 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014.

On Honda Accord is necessary to change engine oil and engine oil filter every 7500 miles (12000 km) or 12 months if you use your car in normal condition. If you use your car in sever condition you need to change oil filter and engine oil every 3750 miles (6000 km) or 6 months.

To change Honda Accord engine oil first time you need to warp up the engine.

Open the hood and locate Honda Accord oil fill cap and remove to leave engine oil to drain more faster.

Remove protect shield and locate oil drain plug. 

How to replace Honda Accord engine oil

Put under the car sealabel container to collect used engine oil and remove and remove oil drain plug.

Locate oil filter and replace. Oil filter on Honda Accord is located in the front of the car, of the engine like in picture bellow.

Remove the oil filter with special oil filter wrench. Inspect the threads and rubber seal (A&B) on the new filter and wipe off the seat on the engine block  then apply a light coat of oil to the filter rubber seal. Is important to use only a filter with built in bypass system.

After you remove the old filter install the new one by hand and after the rubber seal seats tighten the oil filter clockwise with the special tool. Value from filter to be tighten are the following:

Tighten: 7/8 turn clockwise

Tightening torque: 22 N*m(2.2kgf*m, 16 lbf*ft).

After installation of the oil filter put back the drain plug and use a funnel to fill up the engine with oil to the specified level to the engine .

After you fill your Honda Accord engine remove the funnel, put fill cap protection back and run the engine for 5 minutes and then check for leaks.

Reinstall the protection shield.
